Alexia was doing her best to not seem afraid of the vampire elder. She deserved at least a chance to explain herself, or at least in her mind, that was what she felt. She had only done what she had in order for peace. All she had wanted was peace, and in the process, she fell in love with a man who couldn’t love her back. Who lied and said he did love her back. When Selene spoke to her, she lifted her head and looked up at Selene. “Marius never told me what his plans for the coven were. I knew he was going to kill Semira and perhaps the rest of the council, but I had no idea he had planned a full raid for the coven.” She began, eyes closing for a moment. “I was never told of how he obtained his heightened strength.” She knew that was a touchy subject for the vampire elder, for now she heard it, when she awoke chained to the bed in the infirmary. “He only told me parts of his plan and because… because I loved him, I was blind to this. I believed every word he said because he promised me a future of peace… He promised me the one thing I had longed to have.”

it’s truly difficult to hear the other vampire speak in such ways, and of such things, selene’s lips thinning ever so slightly. taking note of how delicately alexia speaks of the vampire elder’s own love and how marius had killed him, she eventually finds her voice following the other’s silence.   ❛ he promised you a future with love, didn’t he? ❜   michael had promised the same, even if he hadn’t said it, but there had never been a doubt in selene’s mind that he didn’t mean it; they had only ever loved one another.   ❛ he made you blind to your own kind and their needs, their survival? ❜   the death dealer would know… she’d given EVERYTHING up for michael, albeit willingly so. much like alexia.
