EVE NOMCTHER.

image

Eve had lost track of how long exactly she’d been away. Perhaps it was little under a year, perhaps it was more. She’d been feral for a time in her exile, relying on her instinct and her mother’s teachings to survive.

But once she’d heard news that her mother was now an elder and Marius was defeated, she’d no longer a reason to stay away. She could come home, and home was wherever her mother was.

Bundled up in furs and thick wools to protect her from the cold, Eve slowly walked across the ice and towards the Nordic coven. She spotted the figure sitting crossleged, and when the wind changed the girl couldn’t help herself, and smiled. Mother.

why should a mother not wait for her child? eve may have told her to live on as if she’d never had a daughter, but doing so was impossible. with the war over ( for now ), however, something tells the elder that all hope is not lost. she may have been robbed of much thus far, but her child would not be taken; selene would not allow it.

she awaits the inevitable arrival of eve, the VAMPIRE requiring little in regards to sustenance all the while. she smells her child first, though, for the wind and snow clouds her vision ( if only just ), until the hybrid steps closer. no smile will grace nude tiers, but the warmth growing in her heart now is undeniable, as is the skipping of the organ as she continues to grow nearer. remaining cross-legged and expecting eve to do the same, her gaze flashes an electric blue in welcome, in invitation.

Eve lands on her feet, shaking off the pins and needles feeling in her body from the heavy landing, blue eyes focused on Selene. Part of Eve hesitates as she watches her mother advance on her, unsure what to do. She’d been mimicking what she’d seen her mother do in the few battles they’d shared. “I wouldn’t say that, Mother.”

Swallowing her fear she moves to a defensive position, skin turning dark as she starts to transform, unsure what to do at this point.

image

with lips thinned and eyes narrowing as they light up even further, selene can’t help but become enthralled by the transformation taking place before her.   ❛ good girl. come and get me. ❜   that’s when the vampire moves to advance upon her daughter, feet carrying her quickly so that she’s before eve in a matter of seconds, throwing a right hook, and then an open handed uppercut. she doesn’t want her daughter to hold back, and she won’t either… within reason, of course.

Eve held her breath, worried that Selene might be mad at her only to relax once she was assured it was alright. “If you’re sure it’s okay…” The girl murmured and moved, mimicking what she secretly called ‘her mother’s murder strut’ as she tried to think of what to do next.

Eve doesn’t hold back her strength as she strikes this time, throwing her full weight forward to kick at the back of her mother’s legs while she grabbed her shoulders, winding herself up and around like she’d seen her mother do countless times on lycans. She relied on her lighter weight to make her faster to let her do this without being shaken off right away.

❛ of course i’m sure. ❜   selene replies, though she’s admittedly caught slightly off guard when eve attacks without much hesitation. she manages to remain upright, but that doesn’t stop her daughter from winding around the vampire’s frame. however, selene manages to grab hold of the girl’s midsection just as her figure wraps around her front, eyes a bright blue as her next move is formulated; it’s been so long since she’s genuinely been challenged. managing to throw the younger girl off, but hardly to the point of hurting her, she meets her daughter’s gaze.   ❛ i’m beginning to think you don’t NEED this training, eve. ❜   legs carry selene so that she’s circling the other, as if sizing up the young girl.

EVE NOMCTHER.

Eve was stunned that she actually managed to land a hit on her  in the side, but she wasn’t too surprised that her mother evaded her after. Lucky hit, she supposed. It would probably take her years to reach anywhere near her mother’s caliber of fighting.

She stood up and dusted off her knees, smiling at her mother. Selene’s praise and encouragement kept her from getting disheartened with training. She tried to think; then feigns a pounce and a grab for her throat, turning her elbow at the last moment possibly to hit her in the stomach. All the while Eve was holding back her strength, terrified of actually hurting her mother.

image

the girl is far more clever than even selene knows, and such a fact is made BLATANTLY obvious when eve appears to be thinking and instead attacks. the vampire attempts to move to the side, just out of the way of the pounce, but the elbow to the rib is solid and powerful, a soft grunt of mild discomfort sounding from now parted lips. stumbling back a few feet, a briefly pained look on her lips, the corners then turn up and she’s smiling. righting herself, the praise continues.

❛ you’re getting better, eve. again. do not hold back for my sake. ❜   the hesitation and worry is written all over her daughter’s face, but she wants her to know that she fears not getting hurt by the young girl. if anything, she’ll be even MORE proud the more hits eve gets on her.

EVE NOMCTHER.

Eve hangs her head a little, embarrassed (but alltogether not entirely surprised) that her mother had evaded her so easily. She nodded then grinned briefly, understanding what she meant. Eve was fast, she knew she could outrun anyone, but she didn’t know how to use her speed in attacks yet.

Going by instinct again, Eve selects her next target without letting her eyes linger too long in a attempt to not give away her plan. “Yes mother, I understand.”

She aimed a jab for her mother’s side then sprung into the air, attempting to piggy-back her this time or at least maybe tackle her. It took a fair bit of her concentration not to transform and use her claws. She needed to learn how to fight like this.

image

pleased that her daughter is willing to go again, selene smirks; she can’t help herself. when eve takes her shot, however, she catches the vampire in the side, but the dark haired woman is able to dodge the young girl when the move is made to jump on her back. it’s a definite improvement, and as actions cease in wait for their next round, selene can’t help but smile yet again; she’s pleased.

❛ that was great, eve. your strength is impressive, though i can’t say i’m altogether surprised. ❜   she praises her daughter, expression still bright and encouraging.   ❛ again. ❜   they’ll go until the girl is tackling her mother to the ground. until selene is sure that she can defend herself, should they be separated.

Eve preens under her mother’s praise, listening and nodding her acknowledgement before she shifted her weight and making a lunge for her, trying to push at her. She doesn’t really know what to do, and looks to Selene for guidance, finding it a strange way to bond, but if it was working…

image

the action is expected, for selene can see the young girl when the decision is made for how she’ll move. reacting perfectly, the vampire is now standing behind the young girl, a slightly ( and playful ) smirk in place.   ❛ you’re fast… faster than a mortal, but you must be faster than a lycan… even a vampire. ❜   despite her comments, selene is impressed by her daughter’s skills, for she is untrained in nearly every way. eve is working off instinct, and it’s served her well,  but there is no telling how long that will last.   ❛ try again, but do not give yourself away with your eyes. ❜   is her gentle instruction, words much softer than previous as the vampire readies herself again.

Eve struggles to control her transformation, unsure which would be better. She needed to learn how to fight in both. She regressed the change before she answered her mother.

“Like this….I need to learn how to fight without my claws…in case someone attacks me in front of humans.” She smiled back at her, face lighting up briefly.

image

❛ you’re a smart girl. ❜   selene’s smile remains, some form of bonding occurring between mother and daughter in the moment.   ❛ make the first move. take notice of how i watch what you do… how i anticipate the blow and react. ❜   stance is a bit more defensive now, feet settled at least shoulder width apart.

E
ve shuffles her feet and moves to the spot where her mother wants her to stand, looking at her for further instruction. She’s used to her brusque manner and cold front by now. She still wishes sometimes she’d be a little softer, show her more affection.

“What now?” She inquired, skin tinting blue-black briefly as she considers changing to her hybird form.

image

selene can’t help but smile at the brief transformation in her daughter, and it’s one of the few instances of true emotions she’ll show her daughter.   ❛ would you prefer to fight in your hybrid form? ❜   she counters instead of answering eve’s question, taking a step forward.   ❛ or would you prefer to simply fight to see where you stand? ❜

Eve tried to shake off her nervousness and gave a slight nod of her head to her mother, wishing that she could just spend time with her and get to know her more. But everyone was trying to eat them or drink their blood, so training had to come first.

“It’s necessary to survive. I know I have to do it….let’s get it over with.” She answered, voice in a soft timbre as she cast her gaze down–an old habit from antigen, never looking adults in the eye. Doing so was ingrained to her as dangerous behavior. “I’m ready…”

image

it’s enough for selene, arms then falling to her sides as a slight nod is given. she moves to walk away a few yards now, gesturing with a brief nod of her head to where she wants eve to stand.   ❛ come here. ❜   her words are quick, but it’s not because she is upset or angry, she’s simply set on teaching her daughter necessary skills for survival.
