Varga smiles only briefly. He’d never thought to hear a compliment while facing judgement, but to receive from the best fighter that had ever lived amongst the vampires–its enough to brighten his spirits even if he is likely destined for the block. “I did not intend to be brave…I only wished to protect the true leader from the lycan scourge threatening us all. I sought no retribution, only to serve my Lord.”

Leave his punishment to him. Now there was a….volatile idea. Varga was a masochist, and held a large amount of self hatred for all that he had done. Squaring his shoulders, he lifts his head and looks at Selene, still down on his knees, where he intends to stay. “Do unto me what was done to you. Poison by nightshade into paralysis, then blood let until half drained….after twenty days and twenty nights of giving me only enough blood to avoid death…allow me to heal. A day for every life I took of our kin.”

Perhaps it was too harsh, perhaps it wasn’t harsh enough. Varga cared little. He’d endured whips on his back as a child for being disobedient. All he knew was orders, being punished for not performing his orders well enough, and hunting lycans. If anything, he expected his sentence to be extended. Deathdealers–the true ones like the woman before him were not known for their tender mercies.

his actions could be seen as heroic by some, even selene seeing them ( slightly ) as such. however, what varga had done previous to such an act are far more important after all that’s happened. nonetheless, it’s refreshing to see just how humble the death dealer ( second to her ) is.

what follows her offer of the male deciding his own punishment, though, she’s rendered speechless. seclusion or something of the likes is what the vampire elder expects; not this.   ❛ are you sure you understand what is entailed in such a thing? ❜   it’s not that selene has softened after her centuries of life, but her eyes have been opened in ways she never imagined. the idea of subjecting someone to that torture is almost unimaginable for the death dealer, and she’s not quite sure she’ll be able to agree to it. arms move to cross over her chest, head tilting ever so slightly to gauge his sanity, for lack of a better word.

VARGA FCRTYKILLS.

Varga casts his gaze down, feeling what little hope and resolve he has fracture. He should have known better than to expect forgiveness, or mercy–from the strongest death dealer their world had ever seen.

Her dare doesn’t go unnoticed, he thinks quickly; trying to find an explanation that would be good enough to satisfy her. He had only been following orders. He himself, held no contempt for Selene or her child.

“A soldier must follow his orders…whether he likes them or not. Had I not followed Semira’s command…I would have been put to death. I never wished to kill my own kind…some of the recruits were my friends….but I had my orders.” Varga raised his head, misery swimming in his gaze. “I am only a footsoldier, my lady. I followed my orders with the understanding that if I didn’t…Semira would have me burned at stake in the courtyard, under the high noon sun.”

“I have no hate in my heart for you, my lady. Nor your mate and child. I dislike pureblooded lycans only…as they are the enemy that needs to be fought. The only acts I have made of my own volition recently…were to pledge my loyalty to Lord David and fight with him in battle. If I am to be executed…I will plea no further for my life. I wish to apologize for what I did.”

Varga held his tongue on one matter. He’d loved Semira. Despite the abuse she’d dealt to him, he’d loved her. He’d betrayed her to side with the rightful leaders, and that, tormented him. He was indirectly responsible for her death, but wholly responsible for the death of Thomas–whom he had looked up to for centuries.

his regret for what’s happened is obvious, and selene cannot find it in herself to hold it against him. that being said, he still must pay for what he’s done to their coven, and it won’t be easy, nor will he earn anyone’s trust anytime soon. but as varga goes on, the elder’s head will dip in order to watch him closely on his knees. he is no threat, simply doing as he’d been told, and to fault him for that would be almost cruel… but again, his butchery will not go unpunished.

❛ your apology is accepted. what you did at david’s side was brave. ❜   it took courage, as well, but selene won’t voice that; he mustn’t be encouraged so much just yet.   ❛ but your crimes against your own kind cannot be ignored, and you must answer for them… i leave your punishment to you, however. if it is reasonable, then it shall be approved. ❜   truthfully, after what semira’s done to them all, selene cares little for his feelings for the other vampire. not another thought is given to the traitor, so the elder cannot see the adoration varga had for the deceased female; not that she’d worry herself with such emotions, anyways.

VARGA FCRTYKILLS.

Varga sank down to his knees, head bowed in submission to the most powerful of all vampires, their new elder, Selene. He deeply regretted the transgressions he’d committed against her, standing before the new elders and the council.

His fate was due to be decided for these acts. He was a good soldier, loyal to the old ways and the covens. He hoped the loyalty he showed to David during the final battle would be enough for him to be spared.

Please forgive me….my lady.”

she’s spoken with the other elders, has discussed with the council the man before her and what his fate ought to be. unsurprisingly, the council members were much more harsh in their answer, for they hadn’t fully witnessed his efforts in the battle days previous; but david had. and because selene favors his words above most other’s, his holds more weight in her final decision. lena hadn’t said much, for she knew little of varga’s… transgressions.

❛ and why should i do that? ❜   she’ll encourage an answer from the male, daring him to give a good enough reason for her to forgive what he’s done to their coven. what he’s done to HER.
